Easter Venture
Easter Venture is a four day competitive hike, run by the South Australian Venturer Scout Branch.
Teams of hikers compete to win as many of the five trophies as they dare. Teams can be a made up of a mix of males and females from any of the three eligible groups; Venturers, Guides, Duke of Edinburgh Awards participants (D.O.E.’s) or Activ8. All hikers must be aged over 14 and under 18. All Participants need to be competent in the Outdoor Skills required by the Venturing Skills Award or its equivalent.
During the evenings, teams will be able to relax and socialise with other entrants, enter more fun activities to win extra Theme points and on the final night enjoy a hot meal, freshly prepared for you and then go to the outdoor night club.
So you now wonder how Rover Scouts get involved with Easter Venture. Rover Scouts provide most of the necessary support for Easter Venture. Most Rover Units get involved with running some of the Activity checkpoints along the way over the whole weekend. Individual Rover Scouts are involved with the Hike Team, which organises the Hiking side of EV, Theme Team which is how the theme is applied to the weekend and there are some Rover Scouts who assist with some of the Administration.
“I want to say a massive thank you to all of the Units who came along to Easter Venture this weekend and congratulations to Black Knight for taking out the Rover Activities Trophy” – Rhiannon Vine, 2016 EV Rover Co-ordinator
